Iodotyrosine deiodinase also known as iodotyrosine dehalogenase 1 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the IYD gene. It helps scavenge iodine by removing it from iodinated tyrosines, after these are produced when thyroid hormones that have been broken down as metabolites from their double-tyrosine residue structure.
